A2MC Controller

The A2MC controller is assembled into an aluminum enclosure with a Plexiglas cover.  It designed for easy access to the various connections as well as being compact and robust.  Mechanical details are shown by clicking on the image of the A2MC.

The A2MC controller itself consists of five main components shown in the exploded view on the right:

1. Connection Board.  The “accessible” part of the A2MC and presents all the connections between the machine’s electronics and the A2MC controller.
    
2. FPGA Board.  The truly unique part of the A2MC.  This board is a very high powered motion controller that update 3 dimensional motion and a tangential axis at the rate of 4.125 million times per second!
     
3. PCI Extension.  Connects the FPGA to the MiniITX computer’s 32 bit PCI bus.
   
   
4. Mini ITX Computer.  The actual computer in a standardized “Mini-ITX” form.
   
   
5. Compact Flash.  The main storage media, can be 2GB to 16GB.
