Modbus network

The A2MC can control a huge variety of peripherals, tools, and devices such as spindle inverters, tool changers, drills, misters, vacuum pumps, and much more.   It manages all these using a highly flexible and easily implemented “Modbus Network”.  In addition to “built in” modbus controllers that are routinely available on devices such as inverters the A2MC system supports a further variety of compatible modbus controllers.

The diagram on the right shows a typical system that includes:

  • A tool changer controlled by an “ATC Controller”
  • A mister controlled by a “Carriage Controller”
  • A spindle controlled by a “modbus compatible inverter”
  • A vacuum pump controlled by a “Pump Controller”

There are literally dozens of peripherals and devices that can be integrated into the A2MC system using the modbus network.  The A2MC has six modbus connections and most controllers have at least two connections.  Since modbus wiring can be daisy chained and can be up to 50 meters long, wiring is easy, and there is really no limit on how many devices and peripherals can be integrated into a single A2MC machine.

To make the system even more flexible a unique “M-Script” controller can be added to the modbus network that allows custom devices and peripherals to be integrated.
