Knives cutting options

The A2MC supports a number of knife cutting options pictured on the right:

  • Oscillating Knives are generally used for thicker and spongier materials such as foam, corrugated cardboard, and spongy rubber materials.  They are also useful for jobs with tight radiuses because tangential knife blades can be quite narrow and still cut effectively.

  • Tangential Knives are the most versatile when it comes to the variety of tooling that can be used.  Very strong knives can be installed to cut tough materials, circular “pizza wheel” blades are used to cut highly abrasive materials such as flooring, creasing wheels are used to crease cardboard, small economical blades can be used for routine cutting applications, angled blades can be used to cut “V” grooves, and many more applications.

  • Drag knives are not driven tangentially, rather they trail on a pivot bearing.  The A2MC software compensates for this trailing compensation.  These blades are best for thin material such as vinyl sheeting and thinner rubbers and gasket materials.

An A2MC system can combine any combination of two of these knife systems.  Dual systems of an oscillating and tangential knives are a particularly useful combination. Knife combinations can also be added to spindle systems.
