Motors and Drives

The A2MC control system will support any servo or stepper motor and drive combination that functions using a “step and direction” protocol.  It can handle eight axis motion in the following combinations:

  • Two X axis: X and X’.  This means an X drive for both ends of a gantry.

  • Two Y axis: Y1 and Y2 (for dual carriage operation) OR one Y and one A axis (rotational motion around the X axis).

  • Four Z axis: Z1, Z2, Z3, and Z4 for multiple Z operations or up to two of the Z axis can be replaced with W axis (tangential motion along an XY contour).
